The Big Chop!

That's right, Friday afternoon I cut off my hair. 16 inches came off and I still had plenty more hair to spare. They say women always cry when they cut off that much hair, well I proved them wrong. I didn't cry at all, I just felt relieved and light and free! It is so tedious to care for hair that long! Now I have a stylish, new, managable Do, and I'm not afraid to use it. :) Hooray!!!
Whoa, that's a big hair ball! 13 inches!

So soft too! Someone's going to be happy to get this hair!

Here's what's left. Another life goal accomplished. Check! *sigh*

Chocolate Strawberries and a Family Reunion

Saturday I made chocolate dipped strawberries for the first time. At first when I melted the semi-sweet chocolate I thought it would be a good idea to put sweetened condensed milk in it, but the result was fudge. So then I melted some milk chocolate chips with the semi-sweet the second time and dipped the strawberries. They were good but apparently there must be some secret to dipping strawberries so I will have to make a thorough study of it and I'll let you know the end result.
The next day Superman and I drove out of town to see my parents who are visiting my sister. It'd been over a year since I'd seen them so it was REALLY nice to spend time with them again. We spent the day with them and my sister's family and then drove back so I could go to work the next day. My husband and I had a good time on the trip.

Trenches and Old Friends

When I haven't been digging trenches, I've been helping Superman change the car oil, hemming his pants, trimming back the lemon tree, and working a job. It's been a busy week. :)
Wednesday my hubby's brother and sister-in-law came over to fix the plumbing for the pool and Superman and I helped them do it. It was fun to be out, drinking in the warm sun and the sweet fragrances of new spring fruit blossoms. The smell of earth bathed me in calming familiarity as I ploughed through it, participating in the exhertion nature intended, and recalling childhood memories of my favorite playmates (earth, flower, tree, and rain.) I devoured the sensation, and discovered momentum to groom the overgrown lemon tree in addition. As a result, my muscles have been aching and tired for the rest of the week, but it only tells me that I need to exhert myself this way more often.
Last weekend my best friend from college came over and we celebrated her birthday by going to the traditional Macaroni Grill for dinner, and then with my husband to the theater to see TAKEN. That was a surprisingly good movie! Superman said he wanted to see it and that it had a good review, but from watching the previews I was not tempted to see it. I would like to see it again when it comes out. I recommend it to anyone who fancies seeing it!

A New Season

Sunday I made Corned Beef and Cabbage, which is always a favorite. It's so easy to make but I found out that there is more than one way to do it! I just cook the corned beef according to the package instructions and add peeled and chopped potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and water toward the end. Superman's mother and brother said that she used to make it like a roast and steam the vegitables to go on the side! But, everyone agreed that the stew was delicious and Superman liked it best and that's what really counts anyway. ;)
I'm starting a new diet and excercise program to try to shed all these Newly Wed pounds. Once Superman and I got married my sleep schedule, diet, and stress levels changed completely the end result- a plump young wife. I found myself in a strange new land, far away from all my friends, and family, with no familiar places to go, called by a new name, without my job, and with so many new resposibilities. It's quite understandable really that I would find myself in an identity crisis, and so I can forgive myself for putting on a few pounds. But now, I am decidedly worked beyond those bewildering feelings; I am used to my new name, I'm back in my beloved Arizona and I'm not so far away from my family. It's time to get serious and loose the weight! I'm going to be doing P90X and other workouts as well as eating more conciously. Yes, that's pretty much it and Superman is helping me to be smart about it all. (He's trained in that sort of thing and I feel so blessed to have such help.) Any woman knows it's the pits to loose your balance and have to regain your body, and I am not as excited about the effort as I used to be when I was in high school. I am, however, determined to become fit again and that is probably what is going to see me through in the end.

Card Making

I made birthday cards this weekend! Yay, now I need more cardstock so I can make more. Haha. I think my last two cards turned out the best. I had some template cards that I embellished and then my creativity took off. It's so nice to have a creative outlet that is economical too!
I finally started my scrapbook! Making these cards made me feel motivated enought to attempt it, and I think it's going pretty well so far. I didn't take any pictures yet because my pages aren't finished, but I'll probably want to show them off once they are. :)
